Volunteer - Rock UK

Volunteer

We run a scheme that sees us employing teams of volunteers from Europe (EU and non-EU countires). These volunteers work at Frontier Centre, doing a variety of jobs, whilst getting free accommodation, meals, a weekly allowance and the chance to experience our country and our culture.

There’s a variety of tasks that you’d be expected to carry out – it’s challenging but also hugely rewarding. So if you think you’d like to give it a try then give us a call on
0844 8000 222 and we can tell you more about it. Or you can read the information below and that will explain it.

What it means to be a member of the volunteer team on a placement at Frontier Centre.

After some basic induction and training sessions we like to get our volunteers straight into action. So typically you would be expected to:

  • Meet group members as they arrive, helping them to their accommodation, handing out keys and information.
  • Prepare the dining room for guests, arranging table plans and checking specific dietary requirements, washing up duties.
  • Welcome groups into the dining room advising menu details.
  • Check group members have all they need during their stay.
  • Clean and prepare the centre prior to the arrival and following the departure of user group.
  • Carry out pre and post building safety checks, ensuring all equipment is in place and in good working order.
  • Assist the centres Youth worker on youth work sessions, working directly with our guests.

Each member of the team will be encouraged to speak English and basic English lessons will be provided by the centre for those of you who think you need them.

As a Christian charity we want to encourage all our staff to grow in the Christian faith. Hospitality Team members are expected to be committed to the centre’s Christian fellowship and will have chance to experience worshipping at different churches in the local area. At certain times a Bible study group (in English) will be available for volunteers to attend.

The shortest period of service we ask for is 6 months and the longest is 12 months. Volunteers must be aged between 18 and 28 years old.

The centre provides accommodation and meals on site and all volunteers receive a £35 pocket money allowance per week to cover day to day living expenses and any U.K. travel expenses. Volunteers are encouraged to visit local tourist attractions as part of their experience living in the U.K.

Volunteers must pay for and arrange for their own travel arrangements from home to the Frontier Centre (including a visa if required).

If you would like to apply for a placement as a Hospitality Team Volunteer please ask for a Volunteer Application Form from Pat Hicks at jobenquiry@rockuk.org
